I am a Washington State Licensed Mental Health Counselor in private practice in Seattle. I specialize in working with women of all ages through transitions and trauma recovery. My work is client-focused, strengths-based, and customized to meet each client's needs.
My goal is to provide an opportunity for you to experience personal growth and emotional healing. My hope is that each person I work with will find and/or reconnect with the essence of who they are, and then move forward from that center.
My education is in psychology; I earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, then went on to pursue studies at Antioch University Seattle where I earned my Master of Arts degree in 2005.
Since that time, I've done supportive mental health and wellness work with adults, adolescents, and very young children and their parents (infant mental health). My practice is grounded in Attachment, Humanistic and Systems Theories. I am an anti-diet and HAES (Health At Every Size) informed therapist. I'll employ relational, creative, and evidenced-based approaches in working with you to move through difficult times. Mindfulness and exploring mind-body connections are integrated into the depth of my practice, as is accessing creativity and self-compassion to move through stuck-points. In 2021 I completed an intensive training in traumatic grief through the MISS Foundation, and received their Compassionate Care Bereavement Certification. I am trained in utilizing bi-lateral stimulation (EMDR) to help process trauma and memories affecting mood and behavior. In addition, a good sense of humor is one of the foundations of who I am, and I bring this to my work - I wholeheartedly believe laughter is good medicine!
In my spare time, I enjoy all sorts of outdoor activities, watching movies, cooking (and eating), and creative/artistic projects. I look forward to hearing what is important to you and helping you live the life that you've imagined.
